[Trailer] ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Fulfills Its Destiny

Here it is! Nothing says Star Wars like football, so tonight Lucasfilm and Disney debuted the brand new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi during Monday Night Football on ESPN. I kid around, but it truly is a brilliant move of synergy. After all, they already know that fans and film sites will instantly have their eyes upon it, so why not aim at a different crowd in the process? Before I fumble this post any further, let’s just get down to business…

Impressive, Rian Johnson. Most impressive. For all of the productions messes that Lucasfilm has had over the past year or so in regards to Rogue One, the Han Solo movie, and Star Wars: Episode IX, this one looks like an absolute winner. Some potential hints of where certain character arcs are headed are dropped, but how many are true and how many are born of editing misdirections? I cannot wait to find out.

As for the poster below, I love the design and color scheme, but the faces look a bit too waxy. It’s like looking at video game renderings, as opposed to photoreal likenesses. Regardless, it is still better than 90% of all other Hollywood posters these days.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the latest film in the Star Wars franchise. It is written and directed by Rian Johnson. The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman. It stars Daisy Ridley as ‘Rey’, Adam Driver as ‘Kylo Ren’, John Boyega as ‘Finn’, Oscar Isaac as ‘Poe Dameron’, Mark Hamill as ‘Luke Skywalker’, Carrie Fisher as ‘General Leia Organa’, Kelly Marie Tran as ‘Rose Tico’, Laura Dern as ‘Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo’, Andy Serkis as ‘Supreme Leader Snoke’, Domhnall Gleeson as ‘General Hux’, Gwendoline Christie as ‘Captain Phasma’, Anthony Daniels as ‘C-3PO’, Jimmy Vee as ‘R2-D2’, Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo as ‘Chewbacca’, Lupita Nyong’o as ‘Maz Kanata’, Veronice Ngo as ‘Paige Tico’, Mike Quinn as ‘Nien Nunb’, Timothy D. Rose as ‘Admiral Ackbar’, Billie Lourd as ‘Lieutenant Connix’, and Simon Pegg as ‘Unkar Plutt’. Benecio Del Toro, Warwick Davis, Justin Theroux, and Noah Segan also appear.
