Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian’ Comes Home this November

Luc Besson‘s visually groundbreaking sci-fi epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (read our review) is coming to home video in November. It’ll first be available via Digital HD on November 7th and then two weeks later on November 21st fans of physical media will be able to get their hands on a DVD, Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD release.

Valerian feels very much like a movie that despite not doing too hot at the box office will launch a second life when hits home video. I haven’t seen it yet, but it looks like something I would enjoy and seems like the perfect movie to develop a cult following over the coming years. Here’s to hoping it does exactly that!

In the 28th century, Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha—an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence, and cultures with each other. There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
