Mike Mignola’s Dark House Comics creation, Hellboy, will return to the silver screen in early 2019! Hot on the heels of yesterday’s reveal of “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour done up as the titular hero, Lionsgate has given the film an official release date: January 11th, 2019! Production on the project fired up this week, so that means that director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy revival will hit screens only a little over a year after shooting began.
Hellboy squares off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind.
This latest incarnation of the comic book property will eschew an origin tale and instead see our demonic hero on a new mission. The B.P.R.D. will be tasked with taking on Nimue, the Blood Queen (Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich)! Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, and Daniel Dae Kim also star, with more casting expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Hellboy is based upon the comics by Mike Mignola. It is directed by Neil Marshall, from a screenplay by Aron Coleite, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola. The picture is produced by Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin, Mike Mignola, and Mike Richardson. The film stars David Harbour as “Anung Un Rama/Hellboy’, Ian McShane as ‘Trevor Bruttenholm/Professor Broom’, Sasha Lane as ‘Alice Monaghan’, Daniel Dae Kim ‘Major Ben Daimio’, Milla Jovovich as ‘Nimue the Blood Queen’, and Penelope Mitchell as ‘Ganeida’.
Hellboy will arrive in theaters on January 11th, 2019.
