Pitch Perfect and Power Rangers star Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of The Happytime Murders. The gifted actress will play Jenny, a burlesque dancer that interacts with two homicide detectives that are attempting to solve a series murders involving the former cast members of the titular show. The catch? One of the detectives is a puppet!
This Jim Henson Company and STX Entertainment production is an R-rated, murder-filled cop flick where a human detective (Melissa McCarthy) and a puppet ex-cop (Bill Barretta) are begrudgingly assigned to the same investigation. Brian Henson (Muppet Treasure Island) directs the project, which has been in development for well over a decade. Filming is expected to begin is Los Angeles later this week, ahead of a Summer 2018 release.

The Happytime Murders will arrive in theaters on August 17th, 2018.
