TV Tidbits: ‘Supergirl’, Kirsten Dunst, & ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

The CW’s “Supergirl” has found its Mr. Mxyzptlk! The super-powered series has set actor Peter Gadiot (“Once Upon A Time“) as one of Superman’s greatest foes. According to Heroic Hollywood, Mxyzptlk is expected to appear in a pair of episodes later this season, although there’s no word at this time as to whether or not we should expect Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to appear as well. I’m betting he won’t, but you never know! “Supergirl” returns from its winter break on January 23rd with an episode helmed by none other than Kevin Smith!

Kirsten Dunst will produce and star in the dark comedy series “On Becoming God in Central Florida” for AMC. The 1990s-set program will center on a widowed water park employee (Dunst) who decides to take down the pyramid scheme that ruined her life by climbing up its ranks. According to Deadline, director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster) is set to helm the series, which is also being produced by Grant Heslov and George Clooney via their company, Smokehouse Pictures.

Lastly, I spoke to you other day about Hulu’s upcoming new series starring Elizabeth Moss and Alexis Bledel, “The Handmaid’s Tale“. The popular streaming service has now issued a teaser for the show, which you can find below. “The Handmaid’s Tale” will premiere on Hulu on April 26th, with an inaugural season consisting of 10 episodes.
