‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Pilfers New Synopsis & Image

After being away at see for six years, Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow has returned. Disney‘s fifth installment in their on-going adventure saga, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, arrives in theaters this summer. What is it about? I’m glad you asked! The House of Mouse has finally issued a more detailed synopsis for the film, along with the new still (of villain Captain Salazar) above. Read away! I promise you won’t get scurvy…

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.’

The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack.

Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy.

At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.

Pirates alumni Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Kevin McNally, and Stephen Graham also return in the sequel, which is set to make port on May 26th of this year. Paul McCartney will appear in a cameo role. I find it a bit odd that neither Barbossa nor Will Turner are mentioned in the synopsis, but I wouldn’t read much into it. Joachim Ronning & Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki) direct from a script by Jeff Nathanson. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is produced by franchise guardian Jerry Bruckheimer.
