2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might have gone for a more down to Earth tone and story than is usual for the franchise, but the upcoming sequel seems to be going all out on the science fiction elements. In addition to bringing us Bebop and Rocksteady, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will be unleashing the Krang upon us this summer. Never one to be silent, Krang will indeed have a voice and that voice is coming from comedian/character actor Fred Armisen (“Portlandia“, “SNL“). The confirmation came at Wonder-Con this weekend, courtesy of the film’s producers.
The real question here is what direction the film is taking with Krang. Is he a singular foe, as in the original ’80s cartoon? Or will he be of a hive mind like the source material and the current cartoon, with thousands of Krang on the verge of invading our world? I guess we’ll find out this June!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows arrives in theaters on June 3rd, 2016. The sequel is directed by Dave Green and scripted by Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec. Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Johnny Knoxville, and Tony Shalhoub return as Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Splinter, respectively. Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and William Fichtner also reprise their roles as April O’Neil, Vern Fenwick, and Eric Sacks. They are joined by Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, Brian Tee as The Shredder, Brittany Ishibashi as Karai, Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman, Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop, Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly as Rocksteady, and Fred Armisen as the voice of Kraang. Laura Linney, Judith Hoag, and Alessandra Ambrosio also star.
