I guess it was only a matter of time before someone started using the most recent Suicide Squad trailer as an inspiration for other teasers. ThatMattCaronGuy appears to be among the first to do so and he has chosen none other than cult classic The Monster Squad for his turn at bat. The fun result lies below, seeing Fred Dekker’s 1987 monster rally with a more modern trailer and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” laid on top of it. The logical next step here is an actual mash-up trailer with footage from both films and I have no doubt that someone out there is already beginning to do just that.
More than anything, this makes me pine for some more horror-oriented superhero fare in the coming years. We’ve heard a lot about the possibilities of a horror-tinged Justice League Dark, a possible Moon Knight series on Netflix from Marvel, and a potential theatrical revival of the Blade franchise within the MCU. Here’s hoping some of that eventually comes to pass, as when it comes to this new wave of superhero properties, the supernatural remains one of the few areas that neither Marvel nor DC have yet to tackle in connection to their cinematic universes.
We at Villain Smash love Batman, Captain America, Superman, Spider-Man, Green Arrow, Daredevil, The Flash, etc. We also, however, love Swamp Thing, Etrigan the Demon, Moon Knight, The Living Mummy, The Spectre, Werewolf by Night, John Constantine, and many more. As Hollywood forges ahead with countless more comic book adaptations, here’s hoping some of them make the jump, be it on the big screen, Netflix, or our televisions at home.
Sorry. No data so far.
