Fox announced today that they have renewed “Gotham” for a third season. The Batman-less Batman series has been a solid performer for them, so this comes as no surprise, but it’s nice to see it announced ahead of May regardless. What makes things really interesting is that the network failed to renew their other DC Comics-based series, “Lucifer“, alongside it. That particular series had been doing well ratings-wise when it was following “The X-Files” revival early on, but has begun to drop a bit since Mulder & Scully’s latest adventures have ended for the year. Chances are it will still get renewed, but the lack of an announcement for it today gives me pause.
Variety broke the news and here’s a quote about the show’s renewal from Fox bigwig David Madden…
“It takes a very special team to tell the tales of ‘Gotham.’” David Madden, entertainment president, Fox Broadcasting, said in a statement. “For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of ‘Gotham’ and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama. This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”
Sorry. No data so far.
