Deadline is reporting that Marisol Nichols (“Teen Wolf“) has been cast in the pilot for The CW’s “Riverdale“. The prospective series is based on the recent popular revival of the “Archie Comics” brand. Nichols will be portraying ‘Hermione Lodge‘, mother to Veronica Lodge. Her character is described a big city woman, who along with her daughter moves to the small town of Riverdale “eager to start afresh with her daughter following the scandalous incarceration of her husband.”
She joins a cast that already includes KJ Apa as ‘Archie Andrews’, Lili Reinhart as ‘Betty Cooper’, Cole Sprouse as ‘Jughead Jones’, Camila Mendes as ‘Veronica Lodge’, Madelaine Petsch as ‘Cheryl Blossom’, Ashleigh Murray as ‘Josie’, and Luke Perry as ‘Fred Andrews’. The series will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater. Should it get the official greenlight (there are rumors that it already has), it will begin airing this fall on The CW, just in time for the 75th anniversary of “Archie Comics“.
