It appears that Zack Snyder’s Justice League: Part One will be coming to screens next year short one League member: Green Lantern. According to an interview conducted by EW, producer Charles Roven has revealed that they’ve been hard at work on pairing down the script for the film, so as to make it palatable for audiences, and everyone’s favorite emerald space cop hasn’t made the cut. He does go on to say that Green Lantern will show up in the films eventually, but he’s not exactly sure of when anymore…
“Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”
I’m sure some fans will be bummed, but the last thing we need is an overstuffed film. Justice League: Part One will be arriving before the solo films for The Flash and Aquaman (both arriving in 2018), meaning that their backstories will not have been fully-fleshed out onscreen for audiences. That will cause the film to eat up a bit of time establishing both heroes, meaning less to time bring in further newcomers. If saving Green Lantern’s arrival for Justice League: Part Two (2019) or Green Lantern Corps. (2020) means that we get a more fully-formed character, then so be it.
Sorry. No data so far.
