According to Variety, character actor and go-to baddie Tommy Flanagan (“Sons of Anarchy“) has joined the cast of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Their piece goes on to cite a rumor attached to the announcement painting Flanagan as a new Ravager character who has it in for Rocket Raccoon, although that has yet to be officially confirmed. The James Gunn-written/directed sequel is currently in production.
Flanagan is the latest newcomer cast in the follow-up, joining the likes of Kurt Russell, Steve Agee, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris Sullivan. Pom Klementieff, also new to the franchise, has already been confirmed as playing source character Mantis. They join an already-confirmed returning cast comprised of Chris Pratt as ‘Star-Lord’, Zoe Saldana as ‘Gamora’, Dave Bautista as ‘Drax the Destroyer’, Vin Diesel as the voice of ‘Groot’, Bradley Cooper as the voice of ‘Rocket Raccoon’, Michael Rooker as ‘Yondu Udonta’, Karen Gillian as ‘Nebula’, Sean Gunn as ‘Kraglin’, and Glenn Close as ‘Nova Prime Irani Rael’.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated for release on May 5th, 2017.
