We’ve known for awhile now that Danny Rand, aka the titular “Iron Fist“, had been cast for the upcoming Netflix series since early January. Many, myself included, wondered how long it would be before the actor’s name leaked or before Marvel announced it themselves. The wait is over. According to That Hashtag Show podcast and backed up by Entertainment Weekly, Finn Jones has the honor of bringing Iron Fist to Netflix in the near future. Jones is probably best known for his role as ‘Loras Tyrell’ on HBO’s “Game of Thrones“.
Marvel and Netflix have both yet to confirm this casting, but it’s looking to be legitimate. The first season of the “Iron Fist” is reportedly slated to begin production in ?. Scott Buck (“Six Feet Under“, “Dexter“) is serving as showrunner on the series. As with most other Netflix Marvel seasons currently in various stages of production, no target premiere date has been announced. Given that “Daredevil” hits next month and that both “Luke Cage” and a returning “Jessica Jones” are expected to arrive later this year, we may not see “Iron Fist” arrive until late 2016/early 2017 at the earliest. All four heroes will topline a miniseries, “The Defenders“, sometime in 2017 or 2018.
