CBR is reporting that Daniel DiMaggio (Tales of Halloween) has been cast as young Kal-El for an upcoming episode of CBS’ “Supergirl“. He will join the series for the 13th episode of the current season, which is entitled “For The Girl Who Has Everything”. A riff on a classic, similarly-titled Superman tale, the episode will see Kara attacked by a parasitic organism that causes her to hallucinate that Krypton was never destroyed. She will experience a normal life on Krypton with her family, including her cousin Kal-El, who in this alternate scenario never grew up to become Superman.
Here’s the episode’s official synopsis…
“For The Girl Who Has Everything” — Kara’s friends must find a way to save her life when a parasitic alien attaches itself to her and traps her in a dream world where her family is alive and her home planet was never destroyed. Also, Alex, Hank and the DEO must fend off a Kryptonian attack while Kara is out of commission, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, Feb. 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.
I’ve gotta admit, that’s a pretty nifty way of including Superman onscreen without undoing the show’s narrative thus far. I was a bit worried when his coming to the series was announced awhile back, but if this was all it was for, then it sounds like it will be worth it. As usual, I should have trusted Berlanti & Co.
