To wrap up our Monday, let’s take a look at a handful of smaller announcements that have come recently. Nothing too Earth-shattering (or Earth-2 shattering, for that matter), but tidbits that should be shared regardless. In this instance they actually mostly hail from the television side of the playing field, specifically from shows like “Agent Carter” and “Supergirl‘. Oh, and Gambit too…
First up, while his return has long been expected, it has finally been confirmed that Dominic Cooper will indeed be reprising his role of young Howard Stark on ABC’s “Agent Carter“. The actor will at least be showing up in the fifth episode of the upcoming season, when is titled “Better Angels”. Cooper is, of course, the star of AMC’s own upcoming comic book series, “Preacher“, so it’s hard to say how much free time he had to participate in “Carter” this year. Some is better than none, however, and I’ll take what I can get.
Actress Laura Vandervoot will be joining the cast of CBS’ “Supergirl” in a recurring role. The actress, who herself played Supergirl on “Smallville“, will be portraying Indigo, “a living, strong-willed supercomputer that wassentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.” Sounds fun!
The series has also added actor Jeff Branson as the alien prison guard Master Jailer, also in a recurring role. His character is described as “the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz, Master Jailer showed no mercy. Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice.”
Lastly, the formerly-troubled production that is Fox’s Gambit has presumably set a start date of March. The report is as-yet-unconfirmed, but given that it hails from an ABC affiliate based in New Orleans, where the project is indeed shooting, there’s a good chance that they’re onto something. The studio still has the X-Men spin-off penciled in for an October 2016 release, but I wouldn’t count on it staying that way. An early 2017 release seems more likely at this time, perhaps even in February ala Deadpool this year.
