Over the weekend, Variety broke the news that ABC has officially ordered a pilot for a potential third* Marvel series on their network: “Most Wanted“. Intended to be a Mr. & Mrs. Smith-esque spin-off of “Agents of SHIELD.“, if it is taken to series, the show will focus on the (mis)adventures of SHIELD agents Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). Two super-spy who were once married, grew apart, and are now together bickering once more? Sounds good to me!
Will it be good for “Agents of SHIELD“, however? That remains to be seen. I’ve spoke before how the initial season of that series was mostly awful and how…while not “good”…the second season managed to repair a lot of that damage. Adding new characters was a major factor in said damage repair and two of the best that the series has to offer now are Bobbi & Lance. On the one hand, removing them might remove some of the character redundancy overall, as we don’t need FOUR brawler agents (Daisy, May, Bobbi, Lance).
On the other? They’re my personal favorite characters on the series. Giving them their own show is a great idea, but I think it could adversely affect “SHIELD“. That’s something that might not be a good idea, given that the series has only just now found its footing in the current third season, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. There’s no guarantee that “Most Wanted” will go to series and debut alongside the inevitable fourth season of “SHIELD” this fall, but if I were a betting man, I’d say it’s probably a lock.
* – “Agent Carter“, whose second season premiers soon, being the other one
Sorry. No data so far.
