It’s been rumored for a little while now and Kurt Russell himself finally confirmed it himself: he’s in early talks to join James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. The subject was brought up when the actor made an appearance on the WolfPop podcast, HappySadConfused. What did he have to say on the matter? Check it out…
“I literally got a phone call two days ago about this. I’ve never seen ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ so I don’t know anything about it. Many times I’ve heard, ‘That’s a really fun movie, a really good movie, great characters.’ I don’t know it! I didn’t realize that [James Gunn] had written and directed it, but we talked to each other on the phone. And I just had to be honest and say, ‘Thank you for considering me, I have to read it, and I have to watch the movie because I can’t bring anything for you. I’ve got nothing to offer here. So, I’m amazed to get asked about this because everybody knows more about it than I do. It could be a one line thing for all I know. But yeah, we’re talking about it. There’s just nothing to talk about at the moment.”
Will he sign? I certainly hope so. The man is on a roll these days and has been landing some stellar projects. He was a lot of fun in his scenes in Fast & Furious 7 (a role he is reportedly reprising in Fast 8) and he’s phenomenal in both Bone Tomahawk and The Hateful Eight. Russell has always been a blast when it comes to genre cinema and I’d love to see him enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially in something like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Sorry. No data so far.
