After countless rumors involving the likes of Nicole Kidman, Sean Bean, and Eva Green, Wonder Woman finally has a confirmed cast. Granted none of those three actors ultimately signed on, but the roster we ended up with is a nice one nonetheless. These actors join the already-cast Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (reprising her role from Batman v Superman) and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor (and possibly Steve’s grandfather as well).
Ladies and gentlemen, your actors and actresses: Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Said Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, and Lucy Davis. So who is playing whom? We honestly don’t know, although educated guesses can still be made. We’ve already reported that Said Taghmaoui is “supposedly” portraying either Zatara or Doctor Fate, though neither has been confirmed at this time. Zatara would make more sense, however, given that his daughter Zatanna is expected to appear in Justice League Dark.
Danny Huston has probably taken the role that Sean Bean was initially sought for: the villainous god of war, Ares. It’s also likely that Robin Wright has scored the part of Queen Hippolyta, leader of the Amazons and mother to Diana. She might not have Kidman’s star power, but Wright is an underrated actress and will not doubt do a wonderful job with the role. Who nabbed the female villain of the piece, whom rumors have pegged as either Circe or Cheetah? It could be either Elena Anaya or Lucy Davis. It could also be neither of them. Only time will tell.
Until such time as we learn the characters the above thespians are portraying, we can at least glance at not only the first production still from director Patty Jenkins’ film, but also Wonder Woman’s logo from Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Check ’em out below!
