‘Supergirl’ Grants Us A Look At Livewire & Actress Helen Slater

CBS has issued a batch of stills from the Thanksgiving episode of “Supergirl“, which airs Monday nights on the network.  While the main cast is naturally showcased, we are also granted a better look at that week’s villain, Livewire (Brit Morgan).  A former CatCo employee with a grudge against Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), the now-superpowered employee will no doubt be causing some problems for Supergirl as well.

The new batch of stills also showcase the arrival of Kara Zor-El’s adoptive mother, Dr. Danvers.  She is played by the star of the 1984 Supergirl film, Helen Slater.  Berlanti & Co. love doing this sort of thing, with 90s Flash John Wesley Shipp being cast as Barry Allen’s father, Henry, on “The Flash“, Mark Hamill returning to the role of The Trickster on the same series, and former Superman Brandon Routh playing the equally (if not more) fun The Atom on “Arrow“.

While it might come off as pandering to some (and it is, to a degree), those actors have all been used well thus far and I have no doubt that Helen Slater will follow suit.  It should also be noted that 90s TV Superman Dean Cain, from “Lois & Clark”, plays Kara’s adoptive father on the series, although it doesn’t look like he will be present next week.  Is he dead and will only be around for flashbacks?  At this point, I honestly don’t know.

The “Livewire” episode will air on November 23rd.

I love how DC always remembers history and respects previous actors. like O’toole in Smallville, Dean Cain, John Wesley Shipp, and Helen Slater. She still looks amazing.
