The closer we get to the premiere of Marvel & Netflix’s “Jessica Jones“, the more we learn. This weekend at New York Comic-Con, more details about certain characters in the series were finally revealed. Wil Traval, previously announced as a cop who takes his duties seriously, has finally been pegged as none other than Will Simpson, a reinvented version of Frank Simpson. Frank was a veteran who eventually went nuts, tattooed the American flag onto his face, and became the villain Nuke.
A pill-popper who ultimately was suped up through science, Nuke has caused a lot of problems for Daredevil and other NYC heroes over the years, often hired by criminal elements as a would-be assassin. It seems that Will shall eventually head down that path as well, though we may well see him appear across many of the Netflix shows before it does. That’s the fun thing about these series’. An actor can be cast and introduced in one and then ultimately guest across all four as time goes on.
Carrie Ann Moss was previously announced as playing a lawyer named “Harper”. As many suspected, that name was a diversion. She is instead playing a gender-swapped Jeri Hogarth. The source character, Jeryn Hogarth, was a longtime friend of Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist) and ended up as a handler and co-owner of Heroes For Hire, the self-explanatory superhero organization which counts Iron Fist and Luke Cage amongst its ranks. As with Traval, it sounds like Moss will have plenty of Marvel work coming her way on Netflix for years to come.
Lastly, we have yet another teaser released for the series a few days ago, this one giving us a better look at Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones and a tease of Kilgrave (David Tennant), the Purple Man.
