Marvel Explains The Infinity Stones In New Featurette

The Infinity Stones.  You’ve seen them sprinkled throughout the films that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe since almost Day One.  The Tesseract (The Space Stone) that Red Skull possesses in Captain America: The First Avenger and later falls into the hands of Loki in The Avengers, ultimately locked away in Odin’s vaults in Asgard.  The Mind Stone within the staff given to Loki by Thanos in The Avengers, which later finds it’s way into the hands of Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron and now resides in the forehead of The Vision.

The Aether (The Reality Stone) in Thor: The Dark World, used by Malekith the Accursed in an attempt to destroy the universe in The Convergence, ultimately given to The Collector, who in turn will undoubtedly pass it on to Thanos…if he hasn’t already.  The Power Stone, retrieved for Thanos by Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy, but ultimately used by Ronan himself in an attempt to wipe out Nova Prime.  The stone now resides in the care of the Nova Corps.

Thanos

Four stones seen thus far, out of a total of six.  Thanos must possess all to wield his Infinity Gauntlet at full strength and you can bet on him meeting that goal over the course of Phase Three as we build towards the free-for-all finale to the first three phases of the MCU: Avengers: Infinity War Part I (2018) and Avengers: Infinity War Part II (2019)!  Where the other two stones (Soul and Time) will appear in the films to come is a mystery, but I think we all know that Thanos will get his hands on them regardless.

Below is a featurette centered on the history of the stones as it pertains to the MCU, using scenes from each of the films thus far to illustrate the journey that Marvel has been laying out for us across the Phases thus far…
