Simone Missick has been cast as Mercedes “Misty” Knight in “Luke Cage“, Marvel’s third live action series for Netflix. In the comics Misty was a former cop turned superhero when her missing arm (lost in the line of duty) was replaced with a bionic one made of Vibranium. Knight had many adventures with both Luke Cage and his pal Iron Fist, often as a part of their organization, Heroes For Hire. Misty is expected to be a large role on the series, which begins production this month, so expect to see a lot of Missick in the future.
Mahershala Ali has been cast as villain Cornell Stokes, aka Cottonmouth. Stokes will apparently be a nightclub owner who clashes with Cage on the series. There’s no word if he will have his trademark razor-sharp teeth or not, but here’s hoping. Stokes joins an ever-growing cast of rogues for Cage to deal with in his inaugural season, which includes the likes of Alvarez (aka Shades), Minetta (aka Black Mariah), and Willis Stryker (aka Diamondback).
Missick and Ali join the already cast Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Alfre Woodard as Black Mariah, Theo Rossi as Shades, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Cheo Hodari Coker will act as showrunner, co-writer, and executive producer for the Netflix series.
