UPDATED: ‘The Flash’ Zooms Into Season 2 With Jay Garrick!

UPDATED: The SDCC sizzle reel from the show’s first season has been added below.

“My name is Jay Garrick, and your world is in trouble.  Zoom is coming.”

Those are the words that opened The Flash’s panel at SDCC 2015 tonight as cast and crew took the stage.  That’s right, folks!  The Crimson Comet himself, original Flash Jay Garrick, is being added to the show and Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) has been cast in the role.  Other Earth-2 characters are expected to join him, but that’s not all!

The aforementioned Zoom will the main villain of the hit show’s second season and he is described as being far more formidable a force than Reverse-Flash.  It sounds like Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is going to have his hands full.  No casting for the role has been revealed at this time.

Shantel VanSanten (One Tree Hill) has been cast as Patty Spivot, a new love interest for Barry, so it sounds like Iris (Candice Patton) will have some competition once more.  Speaking of Iris West, expect her to be far more integral to the proceedings this year.  Patton confirmed that she has already filmed multiple scenes in STAR Labs and that her character will have far more agency this time ’round.

Continuing with the core cast, everyone remained tight-lipped as to whether or not we might see Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) or Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) become their future alter egos Killer Frost and Vibe this season.  It seems likely that a few steps will definitely be taken in those directions, however.

The cast and producers also remained quiet about what exactly Tom Cavanagh will be doing next season.  Is he returning as Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash or the real Dr. Harrison Wells?  Or is it a bit of both?  I guess well find out this October.

The return of Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Golden Glider (Peyton List), and Gorilla Grodd were all confirmed, with a Cold/Glider episode coming early on.  An assortment of new villains were teased, but no names given.  Wally West is also expected to make an appearance, though no word on casting or in what capacity he will appear.
